Suicide remains a significant public health problem in the United States, and across the world. Suicide prevention gatekeeper training in the recognition and referral of potentially suicidal persons has been found to be a promising and effective public health intervention. Traditionally, gatekeeper training has been taught in classroom-based venues. This chapter explores the advantages of utilizing e-learning technologies to train more gatekeepers at lower cost and with greater learner convenience by leveraging the power of web-delivered education. Further, it reports the results of the first randomized, controlled evaluation of one gatekeeper training program. Future directions in online suicide prevention education are then discussed.
