Closing a loop on aiding suicides

The Minnesota nurse who assisted several suicides in recent years has been formally charged with two (2) criminal felony counts of aiding suicide. He reportedly, encouraged a man to hang himself in England and for a teenage girl to drown herself in Canada. Hopefully this will send message to others.

I am happy to congratulate Trine Flensborg-Madsen and Rasmus Revsbech on the birth of their son, Asger. Asger was born on February 27, 2010, in Copenhagen, Denmark. Trine Flensborg-Madsen is affiliated with the University of Copenhagen. She defended her Ph.D. dissertation, "Alcohol use disorders – in relation to alcohol consumption, psychiatric comorbidity, and suicide" in 2008 at the University of Copenhagen. Rasmus Revsbech is also affiliated with this university. He has a broad range of interests including treatment of complex posttraumatic stress disorders. My best wishes to Trine, Rasmus, and Asger!

"Psychiatry Today," a Japanese scientific news bulletin, has just published a report on the symposium, "Translational neuroscience may inform treatment development for posttraumatic stress disorder" that was held on June 28, 2009 during the 9th World Congress of Biological Psychiatry (June 28-July 2, 2009, Palace of Congresses (Le Palais des Congrès de Paris), Paris, France) (1). This symposium was chaired by me and co-chaired by Prof. Alexander Neumeister.
